Biographical Information[edit]

Dave Elmendorf was drafted three times and was an All-American but never played in the minors. The Atlanta Braves took the outfielder inthe 8th round of the 1967 amateur draft. The Boston Red Sox picked him in the second round of the 1970 June secondary draft, then the New York Yankees chose him in the first round of the 1971 January draft. He joined Dane Iorg and Rob Ellis as the All-American outfielders in '71. He decided to play football instead, as the Los Angeles Rams chose the All-American safety in the third round of the NFL draft. He was a safety for the Rams for nine years, making 27 interceptions and All-Conference a couple times. He also was a punt and kick returner for four years.
