Biographical Information[edit]
Ella Matteucci has played for the Canadian women's national team.
Matteucci played hockey in college; her team was ranked 5th in the country in defense. She also captained Team BC in hockey for the 2011 Canada Winter Games. In the 2014 Women's Baseball World Cup, she debuted for Canada in baseball. She got the start against eventual champion Japan, allowing 5 hits, 4 walks and 7 runs in two innings before Hannah Martensen relieved. She wound up with Canada's highest ERA for the Cup; Melissa Armstrong was next at 12.60. She also pinch-hit twice, batting for Meagan Cornelssen against the Netherlands and being retired; she stayed in in RF and had one putout. She also batted for Nikki Boyd in a 3-2 loss to Australia; she was retired by Stephanie Gaynor.
Matteucci was back with Canada for the 2015 Pan American Games. She pinch-ran for Kate Psota in a 3-1 loss to the USA and pinch-hit for Jenna Flannigan in the 11-3 Bronze Medal Game loss to the US, getting plunked by Stacy Piagno.
