Biographical Information[edit]
Dan Schneider appeared in the majors in five different seasons between 1963, when he made his major league debut with the Milwaukee Braves, and !1969, when he pitched 6 games for the Houston Astros in April. He was out of the majors in both 1965 and 1968, and also appeared for the Braves in Braves following their relocation from Milwaukee. His busiest season came in 1967 with houston, when he pitched in 54 games, going 0-2, 4.96 with his only 2 career saves. Overall, he was 2-5, 4.71 in 117 games, including 8 starts, and struck out 86 batters in 166 1/3 innings, while walking 70.
His minor league career lasted from 1962 to 1970. He was born in Indiana but was raised in Arizona, and attended the University of Arizona before signing with the Braves on June 11, 1962. It took him less than a year to reach the majors, but he was not able to stick for long. In his best season, he went 10-7, 3.03 in 43 games for the Atlanta Crackers' final season as a member of the International League, and seemed a natural to be with the Braves when they moved to Atlanta the next year, but ended up spending most of 1966 with the AAA Richmond Braves. Following that season, he was sent to houston in a six-player trade. He finished his career by pitching for his hometown team, the Tulsa Drillers, in both 1969 and 1970, who were the AAA affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals. In 8 minor league season, he was 38-27 in 200 games.
