Biographical Information[edit]

Born in Caracas, Venezuela, Damiano Palmegiani moved with his family to Surrey, BC Canada when he was five years old. He was twice drafted by the team he grew up rooting for, the Toronto Blue Jays. The first time out of high school in the 35th round in 2018, and again in 2021, moving up to the 14th round.

"It was an extremely special moment for me to see everything come full circle once they called my name again. What’s most special about it is that the Jays have always been there in my life. As a fan growing up, as a senior in high school, and after three years of college. After all that time of the Jays being in my life, the team deserves the best of me." - Palmegiani on getting drafted twice by Toronto.

He began his pro career in 2021 with the FCL Blue Jays where he hit .333/.458/.539 in 17 games. Defensively, he appeared exclusively as a third baseman. He moved up to the class A Dunedin Blue Jays to begin 2022, but found himself in Vancouver after hitting .256/.351/.508 in 56 games. In addition to 41 games at his normal home at third base, he also logged two starts across the diamond at first base. He has seen action at both corner infield spots with class A+ Vancouver.

He was named to the Canadian national team for the 2023 World Baseball Classic.
