Biographical Information[edit]

Craig Holman pitched in the Philadelphia Phillies system from 1991 to 1998. He reached Triple A each year from 1996 to 1998, but never played in the majors.

An American Baseball Coaches Association Division II All-American in 1989, he was originally drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 13th round of the 1990 amateur draft, but did not sign. He did sign after being taken by the Phillies in the 22nd round of the 1992 amateur draft, one pick ahead of outfielder Darren Bragg.

He was 6-2 with a 1.93 ERA at low-Class A in his first pro campaign, but never again had such success. By 1993, he was 8-13 with a 3.96 ERA in the mid-minors, and in 1996 -- in his first taste of Triple A -- he was 3-2 with a 5.89 ERA in 62 2/3 innings. On September 4, 1993, while with the Reading Phillies, he took part in a combined seven inning no-hitter against the New Britain Red Sox. He started the game and was replaced by Greg Brown. The other participants were Toby Borland and Ricky Bottalico.

Overall, Holman was 39-34 with a 3.98 ERA in 208 games (83 starts). He later established Holman Baseball Academy, a baseball training camp.
