Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Cory Hahn was selected by the San Diego Padres in the 26th round of the 2010 amateur draft but did not sign, opting to attend Arizona State University instead. However, in just his third college game, he was paralyzed following a collision during a steal attempt. Following the accident and extensive work to regain some basic functions, he eventually returned to the Sun Devils as a student coach. His father, who had coached him when he was growing up, quit his job in order to help him adapt to his new life. Even though he was confined to a wheelchair, he was then selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 34th round of the 2013 amateur draft; the team planned to offer him a job within their organization.

The economics graduate joined the team's scouting department, a task he could perform in spite of his physical challenges. In 2017, he was the team's coordinator of pro scouting, his dream being of becoming a General Manager some day.

Pitcher Trevor Williams, his former roommate at Arizona State, decided to wear uniform number 34, Cory's old number, in his honor.
