Biographical Information

Outfielder Conner Capel is the son of pitcher Mike Capel. He was originally drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 5th round of the 2017 amateur draft, but was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals on July 31, 2018 along with Jhon Torres in return for outfielder Oscar Mercado.

He made his debut with the Cardinals on June 27, 2022, having been called up from the AAA Memphis Redbirds when OF Harrison Bader was placed on the injured list. In his debut against the Miami Marlins that same day, he was inserted in left field in the top of the 9th as part of a series of defensive moves with the Cardinals holding a 9-0 lead. He did not get to bat and no ball was hit his way.
