Biographical Information

Cody Satterwhite reached AA in 2009.

Satterwhite was 13-4 with a 2.56 ERA and 194 K in 111 IP in high school and hit .403. He was named the Mississippi High School Player of the Year by Gatorade in 2005. The Cleveland Indians took him in the 37th round of the 2005 amateur draft but he opted for college.

Cody was 11-2 with two saves and a 5.00 ERA as a freshman, tying the University of Mississippi school record for wins. He also tied for the most wins in the Southeastern Conference. He was named a Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball.

In 2007, Satterwhite was 4-4 with 4 saves and a 3.31 ERA for Mississippi. He was 1-0 with 4 saves and a 2.55 ERA for Team USA that summer. He led Team USA with four appearances in the 2007 Pan American Games and allowed no runs in 3 1/3 IP for the Silver Medal winners. He allowed one run in four innings in the 2007 World Port Tournament.

Cody slipped to 3-5, 5.33 as a junior in 2008. The Detroit Tigers still took him in the second round of the 2008 amateur draft, the #67 overall pick. He was signed by scout Jim Rough for a $606,000 bonus. Satterwhite made his professional debut with the GCL Tigers (0 R in 2 1/3 IP, Sv) and the Lakeland Flying Tigers (2 Sv, 4.42, 22 K, 12 BB in 18 1/3 IP). Baseball America rated him the #8 prospect in the Detroit chain.

The right-hander spent 2009 with the AA Erie SeaWolves, going 4-6 with 12 saves and a 3.47 ERA, striking out 52 in 49 1/3 IP. He missed all of 2010, then made 8 appearances with the GCL Tigers in 2011.
