Biographical Information[edit]
Cliff Gustafson won a then-record 1427 games as a college coach. When he retired in 1996, he had coached 35 first-team All-Americans. With the the University of Texas, he won the College World Series in 1975 and 1983 while appearing 17 times in the tournament. Before joining Texas's baseball program, he won seven state titles as coach of South San Antonio High School in San Antonio, TX. He is one of the few people to both play and also coach in the College World Series, having played in the tournament in 1952 on a Longhorns team coached by Bibb Falk.
