Ciudad Valles (MCL)

Ciudad Valles, San Luis Potosí has had two minor league teams (through 2011). They played four years apart in the Mexican Center League. In 1974, they won the 4-team Gulf Division but three of the four teams in the Center Division had better records. They beat the Ciudad Mante Azucareros 2 games to 1 in the playoffs then fell 3 games to 2 in the finals to the Durango Alacranes. They scored 338 runs and allowed a league-low 276. They had three All-Stars in SS Julio Esparza (.298/.362/.347), C Jesus Robles (.287/.315/.372) and P Regino Moroyoqui (8-0, Sv, 0.58). Moroyoqui led the league in ERA.

In 1978, the team returned, again as a farm club for the Petroleros de Poza Rica. This time they were 33-32-4 to finish 3rd in the 6-team Gulf Division. They were outscored 276-258. The star this time was again a pitcher, Matias Baruch (6-3, 1.04, second in the MCL in ERA).
