Biographical Information[edit]

Infielder Chung-Ting Chen played in the CPBL.

Chen represented Taiwan in the 2016 Haarlem Baseball Week, 2016 U-23 Baseball World Cup and 2017 Universiade. He was drafted by the Uni-President Lions in the second round of the 2017 CPBL Draft after his brother Chung-Yu Chen, and they were the first pair of brothers to be drafted within the first two rounds in the same year in CPBL history. He stayed in the minor league for his first three seasons, and he only played 72 games combined with the big club.

As an infield utility man, Chen hit .287/.326/.364 in 2020 with a career-high 71 hits. He was 0-for-8 in the 2020 Taiwan Series, and the Lion beat the CTBC Brothers in 7 games. However, due to his unstable defense, he only had 64 appearances in 2021, and his batting line fell to .246/.303/.331. Chen was 4-for-10 with 2 RBI in the 2021 Taiwan Series, and the Lions were swept by the Brothers. He slumped to .236/.274/.286 in 2022, but he still played a career-high 95 games because the Lions had a lack of infielders. Chen bounced back and hit .280/.323/.343 in 2023, and he was 0-for-5 in the 2023 CPBL Playoff Series as the Lions were eliminated by the Rakuten Monkeys.
