Biographical Information[edit]

Chun-Chung Shen played in the CPBL and for the Taiwanese national team.

Shen was on the Taiwanese team that took Silver in the 1986 World Junior Championship. [1] He also helped them take Silver in the 1991 Asian Championship. [2] In the 1991 Intercontinental Cup, he hit .333/.500/.467 with five walks, two runs and two RBI in six games, handling six putouts with no errors. He backed up Kuei-Chang Tseng in right and Tai-Chuan Chiang in left. [3]

He made his CPBL debut in 1993, replacing Yoshiie Tachibana in a game. [4] He hit .218/.274/.333 in 86 plate appearances over 56 games that year for the Jungo Bears then was 4 for 31 with four walks for them in 1994. He split 1995 between Jungo (0 for 6) and the Mercuries Tigers (7 for 20, 2B, BB). In 1996, he hit .241/.279/.319 for the Tigers; only Leo Garcia played more games in the outfield for them. He hit the 2,000th CPBL homer, his first since his rookie year. [5] In 1997, he played for the Tigers (.214/.298/.262 in 47 PA) and the China Times Eagles (.316/.385/.376 in 130 PA).

Overall, he had batted .248/.305/.314 in 499 plate appearances over 247 games as a pro, with 58 runs and 33 RBI. He fielded .940 in the outfield.
