Biographical Information[edit]

Mung Chuevakham has played for the Laotian national team.

In the 2023 East Asian Baseball Cup, the teenager was 3 for 11 with a double, run and four RBI, with all the offense coming against Malaysia. [1] After not pitching in that event, he was a workhorse on the mound in the 2022 Asian Games (held later in '23 after delays from COVID-19). He started their opener against Thailand. He hit his first batter, Joe Daru, but escaped the inning, ending with a strikeout of Sakai Phraechai. He allowed two runs over the next two innings before Yayua Wa relieved; Chuevakham moved to the outfield and took the loss to Siraphop Nadee. He doubled off Nadee in his first at-bat. He then got the start the next day against Singapore, escaping a bases-loaded jam by retiring Ryota Wong; he then moved to left to replace To Tava as Wa again relieved. Laos got their first Asian Games win, 8-7; Hue Thor got the decision. He took losses to the Philippines' Raymond Nerosa and Hong Kong's Ka-Ho Sam Leung. He finished 0-3 with a 9.00 ERA, having started four of Laos's seven games. He also hit .235/.364/.294 with 3 RBI and manned all three outfield spots. He led Laos in RBI (one ahead of Thor) and was one hit behind team leader Bee Sengsoulin. He tied Soulapixa Khounchaleun for the team lead in walks drawn (4) and only Khounchaleun had a better OBP among their regulars. For the Games, he led in losses (one ahead of Eleazar Jie Xian Ng and Nadee), tied for second in games pitched (behind Wa), tied Nadee for the most starts (no one else had more than two), was 4th in IP (12), gave up the 2nd-most hits (20, 2 behind Nadee), allowed the second-most runs (16, 3 behind Wa), gave up the second-most earned runs (12, again 3 behind Wa) and tied Ng for second in walks (3 behind Wa).
