Biographical Information[edit]
Infielder Christopher Torres was signed by the Seattle Mariners as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic before the 2015 season. He began his pro career that season with the DSL Mariners 2, hitting .251 in 64 games and in 2016 moved over to the AZL Mariners. There, he hit .257 with no homers and 17 RBIs in 44 games. He played some second base in his first season, but thereafter became almost exclusively a shortstop. In 2017, he was in the Arizona League again for four games, but spent the bulk of his time with the Everett AquaSox of the Northwest League, where he hit .238 in 48 games. He had 8 doubles, 6 triples and 6 homers and scored 44 runs, while also stealing 13 bases in 16 attempts.
On December 7, 2017, he was one of the three prospects, the other being Ps Robert Dugger and Nick Neidert, to be sent to the Miami Marlins in a trade for 2B Dee Gordon.
