Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Robert Dugger was selected by the Seattle Mariners in the 18th round of the 2016 amateur draft, out of Texas Tech University. He made his pro debut that year going a combined 2-1, 4.62 in 12 games for three different teams, including a couple of relief appearances in AAA with the Tacoma Rainiers. That was just a blip though, as in 2017 he returned to a level more appropriate to his experience, starting the year in the Midwest League with the Clinton LumberKings where he was 4-1, 2.00 in 22 games as a swingman. He was then promoted to the Modesto Nuts of the California League where he was used solely as a starter, going 2-5, 3.94 in 9 games. He struck out 116 batters in 117 2/3 innings between the two stops.

On December 7, 2017, he was traded to the Miami Marlins alongside fellow prospects Nick Neidert and Christopher Torres in return for major league 2B Dee Gordon.
