Chris Wright pitched in the minor leagues, Taiwan and Japan.
Wright was selected by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in the 11th round of the 1997 Amateur Draft, and he was 2-4 with a 7.27 ERA for the Princeton Devil Rays. He had a 1-1 record with a 2.30 ERA with the Hudson Valley Renegades in 1998, and he was 5-12 with a 4.02 ERA for the Charleston RiverDogs in 1999. Wright then had a 4.38 ERA in 46 appearances for the St. Petersburg Devil Rays in 2000, and he recorded a 3.49 ERA in 49 relief outings in 2001 for the Bakersfield Blaze.
After having a 5.11 ERA in 19 appearances in 2002 with the AA Orlando Rays, Wright moved to the Seattle Mariners system and he had a 1.60 ERA in 18 games for the San Antonio Missions. He then went 7-6 with a 3.76 ERA for the Missions, but he was 0-6 with a 6.36 ERA with AAA Tacoma Rainiers in 2003. The La New Bears signed Wright in 2004, and he was 6-4 with a 2.27 ERA.[1] Had he qualified, he would've ranked 6th in ERA (between Kleber Ojima and Kuo-Chin Wang). Wright then signed with the Seibu Lions of the NPB in 2005, but he allowed 6 runs in 1 1/3 innings then he was sent to the NPB Farm Leagues. The Lions released Wright on June 28, and he returned to the Bears.[2] Wright was 7-8 with a 2.74 ERA in 2005, but he walked nine in 10 innings in 2006 then he was released. [3]
Overall, Wright was 33-45 with a 4.16 ERA in 7 seasons in the minor leagues. He had a 14-12 record with a 2.53 ERA, struck out 168 and pitched 224 1/3 innings in 3 seasons in the CPBL.
