Biographical Information

Chris Booker was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 20th round of the 1995 amateur draft. He was signed by scout Jim Crawford and made his pro debut that summer. Chris made his big league debut during the 2005 season with the Cincinnati Reds, after which he became a free agent. He was signed by the Washington Nationals in November, drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 2005 Rule V Draft in December, and traded to the Philadelphia Phillies in short order. Booker was on Team USA for the 2007 Baseball World Cup, splitting closing duties with Jeff Stevens. Booker allowed one run in five innings and had three saves, leading the Cup in saves. The US won its first Gold Medal in over 30 years. Against the Taiwan national team, Booker had his biggest scare as the host nation moved within three and loaded the bases before falling. 2007 marked his final season as a big leaguer, making three appearances with the Washington Nationals. In 17 games and 11 1/3 innings split among three teams, his ERA was 14.29

Booker became a pitching coach with the Billings Mustangs in 2018 and with the Greeneville Reds in 2019-2020.
