Biographical Information[edit]

Chin-Te Yu played in the Chinese Professional Baseball League for 7 years.

Yu represented Taiwan in the 2000 Haarlem Baseball Week. The Sinon Bulls selected him in the 4th round of the 2003 CPBL Draft, and he hit .444/.516/.556 in 27 at-bats for them in his rookie year. He went 3-for-15 in the 2004 Taiwan Series, and the Bulls beat the Uni-President Lions in 7 games. However, he was 4-for-43 in 2005, and the Bulls released him in 2006. The La New Bears picked him up, and Yu hit .217/.208/.217 for them in '06 season. He was 2-for-5 in the 2006 Taiwan Series, and he won another title as the Bears swept the Lions.

The Taitung native batted .255/.301/.283 in 2007, and he went 4-for-14 in the 2007 Taiwan Series; the Lions beat the Bears this time in 7 games. Yu played 71 games in 2008, and he recorded a .274/.325/.321 batting line. He then had a .271/.326/.364 batting line in 2009, and he played a career-high 82 games with a .254/.298/.321 batting line in 2010. The Bears released him after that season, and he announced his retirement. He coached Yuli High School from 2018 to 2020.

Overall, Yu hit .259/.306/.313 with 217 hits and 4 homers in 7 seasons in the CPBL. He didn't get a hit-by-pitch in 925 career plate appearances, and that is still the CPBL record as of 2024.
