Biographical Information[edit]

Chien-Jung Su won a Gold Glove in the CPBL.

Su was a first-round pick of the Sinon Bulls out of college in the 2005 CPBL Draft. He hit .255/.308/.306 as a rookie, but struggled the next four years. He batted only .214/.288/.284 in 2007 then was a backup in 2008 (.185/.230/.252), 2009 (.222/.310/.262) and 2010 (.185/.254/.215). The Fu Jen alumnus surged to .312/.389/.383 in 2011 to win CPBL Most Improved Player Award honors. He ranked 10th in average after his improvement of 127 points, between Chen-Yu Chung and Fu-Hao Liu. He was also 4th in OBP, behind Cheng-Wei Chang, Kuo-Ching Kao and Da-Hung Cheng. Su had 261 putouts, 3 assists and no errors in 115 outfield games; he won a CPBL Gold Glove for his defensive work.

The Kaohsiung native extended his solid performance, hitting .275/.357/.333 and won the Gold Glove again. He broke Sheng-Wei Wang's record with 26 hit-by-pitches in a season, and that was still the CPBL record as of 2023. Su also attended the 2012 CPBL All-Star Game, and he was 1-for-2. However, that was his last productive season. Su slumped to .190/.308/.200 in 2013, and he hit .192/.344/.192 in 27 games in 2014. He only played one game with the big club in 2015, then he announced his retirement.

Overall, Su hit .250/.327/.305 with 409 hits and 15 homers in 10 seasons in the CPBL.
