Biographical Information[edit]

Chien-Fa Chang pitched in the CPBL for 8 years.

Chang was signed by the Wei Chuan Dragons when they were founded in 1990, and he was 2-4 with a 5.45 ERA in his first season. He was involved in a car accident before the 1990 Taiwan Series, so he missed the series and most of the 1991 season. Chang came back in 1992, and he was 1-4 with a 3.75 ERA. He then had a 5.30 ERA in 8 relief outings in 1993, and he was 4-1 with a 4.31 ERA in 1994. He set the CPBL record with 31 2/3 consecutive walk-free innings.

Chang then had a 5.48 ERA in 18 games in 1995, and his ERA was 9.25 in 23 games in 1996. He allowed 4 runs in 1 2/3 innings in 1996 Taiwan Series Game 1, and the Dragons were beaten by the Uni-President Lions in 6 games. After missing the 1997 season, Chang had a 4.91 ERA in 17 appearances in 1998 then he announced his retirement.

Overall, Chang was 12-10 with a 5.39 ERA, struck out 71 and pitched 295 1/3 innings in 8 seasons in the CPBL.
