Hsieh was signed by the Uni-President Lions when they were founded in 1990, and he was 3-7 with a 3.57 ERA in his first season. However, that was his only productive season, and his ERA rose to 6.75 in 1991. Hsieh pitched 24 games with a 6.00 ERA in 1992, and he only got 33 appearances combined in the next four seasons. Hsieh got his first win since his rookie season on October 6, 1996, and that was the CPBL record for the longest period between two wins until Feng-Hsin Wang broke it in 2010. He had a 6.55 ERA in 6 games for the Lions before they sent him to the China Times Eagles, and he pitched 12 games with a 12.10 ERA for them. After the Eagles expelled, Hsieh joined the Taichung Agan of the TML, and he was 3-1 with a 5.06 ERA in 1998. His ERA then rose to 8.66 in 14 games in 1999, and he recorded a 7.14 ERA in 17 games in 2000. THe Agan released him after the 2000 season, and his professional career ended.

Overall, Hsieh was 8-12 with a 6.00 ERA, struck out 120 and pitched 337 1/3 innings in 11 seasons in the CPBL and TML.
