Biographical Information[edit]

Cheng-Che Wu has played in the CPBL.

Wu represented Taiwan in the 2016 Haarlem Baseball Week, 2016 U-23 Baseball World Cup and 2017 Universiade. The Lamigo Monkeys drafted him in the sixth round of the 2017 CPBL Draft, but he spent the vast majority of his rookie year in the minor league, only pitched 4 games with the big club. Wu became an important part of the Monkeys' bullpen in 2018. He recorded a 4.35 ERA with 18 holds in a a league-leading 66 appearances, and ranked 4th in holds (5 behind Hao-Chun Chiu). Wu was also selected into the 2018 CPBL All-Star Game. He relieved Po-Yu Lin in the 5th inning, but Cheng-Min Peng and Chih-Chieh Su both singled, and Fu-Lin Kuo's single drove in a run. Chih-Kang Kao then sent Su home with a sacrifice fly, and Wu retired Tzu-Hsien Chan to end his work. In the 2018 Taiwan Series, Wu pitched 2 shutout innings with 2 strikeouts (against Chao-Ting Tang and Su) to got the win over the Uni-President Lions in Game 1. He pitched 2/3 of a inning in Game 3, and collected another shutout inning in Game 4. Wu extended his solid performance, as he pitched 1 2/3 shutout innings in Game 5, notched the hold and won his first Taiwan Series title.

However, Wu struggled in 2019 due to overuse, as his ERA rose to 6.70 in 38 appearances. He suffered a shoulder injury in 2020, so he only played 3 games with the big club. He spent the whole 2021 season in the minor league, and the Monkeys released him although his ERA was solid 1.45 in the minors. The Uni-President Lions picked him up, but Wu still couldn't come back to the big league, and he announced his retirement after this season.

Overall, Wu was 6-6 with 20 holds, pitched 107 1/3 innings with 78 strikeouts in 4 seasons in CPBL.
