Biographical Information[edit]
Along with his 50 major league games, Charlie English played 2,156 games in the minors in a career that stretched from 1931-49. After his playing days he managed in the minors.
English played for Florence, Galveston, Fort Worth, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Milwaukee, Nashville, Portland, and Oakland. He had 2,499 minor league hits and a .305 batting average, leading the Southern Association in batting average at .341 in 1942. In 1943 he played on the Los Angeles Angels who won 110 games in the PCL.
