Biographical Information[edit]
Charley Moore had a cup of coffee with the 1912 Cubs. He played a little shortstop, second, and third, but had to compete with Johnny Evers (who hit .341 that year), Heinie Zimmerman (who hit .372), and Joe Tinker (who hit .282). Red Downs was acquired in early May 1912 from the Brooklyn Dodgers, and soon thereafter Moore's major league career was over. Downs became the most-used backup infielder that season.
Moore is not to be confused with Charlie Moore, who played from 1973-87.
