Biographical Information[edit]
Red Downs played three years in the majors and had a long minor league career. Prior to that, he was a member of a top town ball team in 1899-1900. In 1932, he committed armed robbery and went to prison. Source: SABR biography.
Red Downs and Lew Richie were born on the same day in 1883. Both appeared in 241 major league games, and were teammates on the 1912 Cubs.
