Biographical Information[edit]

Charles Faatz was a minor league player and manager; his brother Jay Faatz played in the majors.

Charles played for Bay City (1883), Muskegon and the Saginaw Greys (1884), Springfield and the Oswego Sweegs (1885), the Altoona Mountain Cities (.263 in 34 G) and Minneapolis Millers (1886) and the Des Moines Hawkeyes (.243/?/.304 with 48 SB in 1887). He split 1888 between Mansfield and Hutchinson, leading the Western League with 33 runs and 35 hits while also managing the club. In 1889, he was with Grand Rapids and the Lansing Farmers. During 1890, he managed Anderson in the Iowa State League. He was player-manager of the 1891 Appleton Papermakers and 1892 Oshkosh Indians.

With the 1893 Easton Dutchmen, Faatz hit .268, slugged .349 and had 19 steals and 36 runs in 48 games. He played for the 1895 Franklin Braves, 1897 Palmyra Mormans and 1898 Rome Romans. He managed the Albany Senators and Auburn Pioneers/Troy Washerwomen in 1899.
