Chaon Garland made it to AA.

In 1988, Garland struck out 8.19 batters per 9 innings, a Haverford College record. He improved the record to 8.75 in 1989 when he was 7-3. He fell to 7-4 in 1990 but increased his K rate to 10.93/9 innings. He was named a NCAA Division III All-American pitcher. The Oakland Athletics took him in the third round of the 1990 amateur draft.

Making his pro debut with the Southern Oregon A's, Garland posted a 4-3, 3.08 record in 1990. Had he qualified, he would have tied Dan Henrikson for 8th in the Northwest League in ERA. Garland was 8-9 with a 4.32 ERA and one save for the 1991 Modesto A's. In 1992, he pitched for both Modesto (7-3, 2.74) and the Huntsville Stars (3-4, 6.59). Had he qualified, he would have finished second in the California League in ERA. In 1993, Chaon ended his career back with Modesto at 3-3, 7.26 and 35 BB in 48 1/3 IP.

Overall, Garland had gone 25-22 with a 4.35 ERA and 307 strikeouts in 401 2/3 IP and 86 games in the minors.
