Biographical Information[edit]
Chan-ho Park has led the Korea Baseball Organization in steals twice and won a KBO Gold Glove.
Park represented South Korea in the 2013 World Junior Championship, hitting .286/.375/.333, fielding .968 and going 0-for-2 in steal attempts. He was drafted by the KIA Tigers in the 5th round of the 2014 KBO draft, and he was 2-for-22 in his first season. He hit .183/.233/.234 in 69 games in 2015, and he had a .167/.222/.167 batting line in 2016. Park then missed the next two seasons due to military service, and he returned in 2019 with a .260/.300/.318 batting line and a league-leading 39 steals. Park struggled in 2020 as his batting line was .223/.276/.275, then he hit .246/.331/.313 in 131 games in 2021.
The Daegu native collected 42 steals with a .272/.344/.341 batting line in 2022, and he led the league in steals again. Park improved to .301/.356/.378 with 30 steals in 2023, and he shared the first KBO Fielding Award for shortstop with Ji-hwan Oh. He was 3rd in steals, 9 behind Soo-bin Jung. Park extended his solid batting, and his batting line was .307/.363/.386 with 20 steals on 2024. He won the Fielding award again, and he got his first KBO Gold Glove (the award for best overall player at a position) as a shortstop. He hit .318/.375/.455 with 7 runs in the 2024 Korean Series, and he won his first title as the Tigers beat the Samsung Lions in 5 games.
