Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Chad Rogers began his professional career in 2011.

He was taken by the Cincinnati Reds in the 28th round of the 2010 amateur draft. The scout was Jerry Flowers. His pro debut was delayed a season because he was bitten on the foot by a shark while surfing off the Gulf Coast; he needed 60 stitches.

He had a 2.99 ERA in 37 games, mostly in relief, for the Dayton Dragons in 2011, striking out 72 batters in 69 1/3 innings. Between the Bakersfield Blaze and Pensacola Blue Wahoos in 2012, he was 9-5 with a 2.90 ERA in 27 starts and was a California League Mid-Season All-Star and a MiLB.com Organization All-Star. Had he qualified, he would have led the Cal League in ERA. In 2013, he went 8-7 with a 3.21 ERA in 25 starts between Pensacola and the Triple-A Louisville Bats. In his first taste of Triple-A, he was 5-5 with a 4.22 ERA in 12 starts. Baseball America named him the Reds' #15 prospect. He spent all of 2014 with the Bats and in 35 relief appearances, posted a 4.08 ERA. He began 2015 with Pensacola.
