Biographical Information[edit]

Cesar Martin played in the Toronto Blue Jays minor league system around the turn of the 21st century, but sources differ on the number of years. Most likely it was three or four years with Baseball-Reference indicating two years playing in the Dominican Summer League (1999-2000) at a time when statistics were not always readily available. There is unanimity that Martin played for the Medicine Hat Blue Jays in 2001 and Auburn Doubledays in 2002, primarily as a third baseman.

It appears that Martin immediately moved into coaching following the conclusion of his playing career, but some of the information cannot be verified. The best guess is that Martin was a coach for the DSL Blue Jays from 2003-2005. According to his 2017 Lansing Lugnuts baseball card, he then managed the team in 2006, the DSL Blue Jays 2 in 2007-2008, and the DSL Blue Jays in 2009. This was the only source that mentioned him as a manager in 2006 and 2009. Another source indicated that Martin was the Dominican Field Coordinator in 2008. It is possible that he filled both roles. No information is available, at least in English language sources, about his role in 2010. In 2011 he was most likely a coach for the Bluefield Blue Jays. Lastly, there is some disagreement on who managed the DSL Blue Jays in 2012, Martin or Miguel Bernard. The evidence strongly supports Martin.

His record since 2012 is much more definitive.

Cesar Martin was scheduled to manage the Fisher Cats in 2020 before the season was cancelled due to COVID-19.

In addition to his work in the Blue Jays system, Martin served two years as an Estrellas Orientales coach in the Dominican League. In 2020/2021 he was the team's bench coach and in 2021/2022 he served as a quality control coach.
