Pitcher Cesar Carrillo was selected by the San Diego Padres in the first round in 2005. He was signed by Joe Bochy and debuted that summer. Carrillo made his big league debut with the Pads in 2009. He made three starts, going 1-2, 13.06. This concludes the big league career of Cesar Carrillo

In the spring of 2013, he was suspended for 100 games by Major League Baseball, his second suspension for testing positive for a banned substance. By then, he was a member of the Detroit Tigers, after having been picked up on waivers by the Houston Astros in September 2010. He struggled mightily on the mound after his brief taste of the majors. In 2010, he was 5-14, 5.60 with the AAA Portland Beavers. In January 2011, he was arrested and charged with trespassing at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Tampa. Among several teams, he went 5-12, 7.40 that year, with most of the year with the Lancaster Barnstormers of the Atlantic League after being released by the Astros. After signing with the Tigers organization in 2012, his record was 3-6, 6.23 in 12 games, split between the Class A Lakeland Flying Tigers and AA Erie SeaWolves.
