From BR Bullpen

Our 16th country to 50, following the other 15 teams which played in the first two World Baseball Classics. Nicaragua (46) almost beat them to the punch. - --Mischa 11:23, 17 September 2009 (EDT)

Mischa, you've done a very good job on international baseball for the bullpen. Kudos! --Jeff 01:04, 18 September 2009 (EDT)

South Africa is the 19th country to 100, almost a year after Great Britain was #18. Ruan Klink is #100. The countries to 100: USA, Japan, South Korea, Cuba, Taiwan, the Netherlands, Venezuela, Italy, Canada, Mexico, Australia, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, China, Nicaragua, Panama, Spain, Great Britain and now South Africa. - --Mischa (talk) 12:32, 12 May 2016 (EDT)

Mark Van Noordwyk is the 150th player here. They're the 24th to 100, following the USA, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Cuba, Italy, the Netherlands, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, Canada, Australia, Mexico, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico, Panama, China, Great Britain, Spain, Colombia, Brazil, Germany, France and Belgium. Since they got to 100, they were passed by Colombia, Brazil, Germany, France and Belgium. They're competing in many fewer tourneys since the Baseball World Cup ended. For instance, from 2006-2011, they competed in three Baseball World Cups, two World Baseball Classics and an Olympic qualifier for six events in seven years. In the past seven years (2017-2024), they competed in one Olympic qualifier, one World Baseball Classic qualifier and one Africa Cup for three events (one in the past five years). - Mischa (talk) 10:25, 17 September 2024 (UTC)

With the addition of Matthew Cooley, we're at 154 and now out of red links. Unless we discover some rosters from the 1990s Africa Cups or their 1974 Amateur World Series roster, we're done until their next event. That also means that all seven African teams are complete-to-date. While they don't add up to #10 Canada, it still marks a sign of progress. South Africa's the 4th-biggest no-red-link team after we finished up Japan, Taiwan and China. - Mischa (talk) 09:55, 25 September 2024 (UTC)
