René Espín makes it 600. Right behind CPBL Players as our #5 Players category (Player, Minor League Players, Nippin Pro Baseball Players, CPBL Players, Cuban National League Players) - --Mischa (talk) 15:29, 16 August 2013 (EDT)

6 guys so far named Frank - almost 1% of the names. Given that very few "American" names are present (a couple on some of the Havana teams) and the plethora of left-wing cause names (Nguyen, Vladimir, Yasser) as well as traditional Latino names, I wonder why Frank is so popular. You see it once in a while in other Latino nations but not to this frequency. Was there a Frank active in left-wing causes? - --Mischa (talk) 12:23, 2 May 2014 (EDT)

category name?[edit]

Is there a reason this category is "Cuban National LEAGUE Players" rather than "Cuban National SERIES Players," as it's known in Cuba? I have no interest in changing 400-plus items manually, but if this could be changed globally via a simple programming change, it seems "Series" would be preferable to "League." Just a thought. 64.20.45.178 00:39, 30 July 2011 (EDT)

I notice that all our articles and templates are under "Cuban National League". It's a more logical English translation than "Series", which is used in a different context here. --Philippe 14:00, 30 July 2011 (EDT)

-- I don't know, it just doesn't seem correct or consistent. No one ever talks about the "Cuban National League," but everyone knows what is meant by "Cuban National Series." Beyond that, there's internal inconsistency here with regard to how the category and pages are used. The *category* "Cuban National League Players" is used for players who played in the Cuban National Series, but the *page* for Cuban National League is used as an umbrella, catch-call term that doesn't refer to a specific league. If only for consistency's sake, it seems like the category should be "Cuban National Series Players" and the page for Cuban National League should be changed to something simpler, like Cuban baseball or Baseball in Cuba. -- 64.20.45.178 15:48, 30 July 2011 (EDT)

I think MichaelEng first used the Cuban National League nomenclature when he was a contributor here 4-5 years back. I've always seen National Series (or Serie Nacional) myself and think it might make more sense. We'd need a bot to make a change that big, though, as it would take a lot of time by hand. - --Mischa 13:32, 31 July 2011 (EDT)

Misael Abad brings it to 700 players. Only 100 players in the past 6+ years as the pace has slowed on this category. - Mischa (talk) 13:17, 4 February 2020 (UTC)
