Biographical Information[edit]

Carlos Alvarez pitched for 7 seasons in the minor leagues. He was excellent for the 2002 DSL Dodgers, going 1-1 with a 1.67 ERA; in 32 1/3 innings, he fanned 55 and allowed only 13 hits and 16 walks. In 2003, he had a 2-2, 3 save, 2.05 record for the GCL Dodgers. The next season, the southpaw spent time with the Columbus Catfish (1-0, 6.64, 32 K in 21 2/3 IP) and Ogden Raptors (3-0, 3.26, 38 K in 30 1/3 IP). He split 2005 between Columbus (2-2, 3 Sv, 0.93, 24 H, 63 K in 38 2/3 IP) and Jacksonville Suns (4-0, 3.99). In 2006, he was with Jacksonville, going 4-1 with a save and a 2.93 ERA in 33 games.

The Maracaibo native struggled in 2007, which he split between Jacksonville (3-0, 3.86 in 7 G), the GCL Dodgers (1-0, 2.08, 3 H in 8 2/3 IP) and Inland Empire 66ers (1-2, Sv, 6.56 in 15 G). A free agent, he signed with the Florida Marlins and spent 2008 with the Jupiter Hammerheads (1-1, 2.70 in 25 G) and Carolina Mudcats (2 runs in 1 IP).
