Biographical Information

Carl Lind played for the Cleveland Indians from 1927 to 1930. He was a regular in 1928, leading the 1928 American League in plate appearances.

Lind was born in New Orleans, LA and attended Tulane University in New Orleans. He was there at the same time as Ed Morgan, his future teammate on the Indians. The book Baseball at Tulane University has a photo of him and says he was captain of the 1923 team.

Lind was in the minors in 1926 and 1927, coming up to the Indians in September 1927 after spending most of that season hitting .331 for Denver. After his last major league game in June 1930, he went back to the minors. Most of his teammates on the New Orleans Pelicans, for whom he played parts of 1930-1932, were former or future major leaguers.

The Baseball Rookies Encyclopedia says that Lind's 42 doubles in 1928 tied for the most ever by a rookie second baseman.

A couple of sources say that Lind had a post-season illness after the 1928 season and never was the same player again.

Along with Carl, other players with the last name Lind include Adam Lind, Jack Lind and Jose Lind.
