Biographical Information[edit]

César Rivera has won Gold with the Puerto Rican national team.

He hit .204 for Bethune-Cookman University in 2011. [1] By 2014, he was at Alabama State, hitting .271/.378/.367 with 50 runs in 55 games. He was 4th in the Southwestern Athletic Conference in runs. The next year, he batted .391/.471/.614 with 59 runs scored in 49 games. He was second in the SWAC in average (.030 behind Melvin Rodriguez), 3rd in OBP, 5th in doubles (16) and tied Rodriguez for the most runs. He was named All-SWAC in the outfield. [2] He was 14th in NCAA Division I in average, right after future major leaguer Nick Dini. [3]

Rivera played for Puerto Rico in the 2019 Pan American Games. Backing up former big leaguer Jorge Padilla in right and Edwin Gómez in left, he went 1 for 5 with a walk, triple and a run. His two-run triple came off Canada's Jasvir Rakkar and his walk was off Colombia's Randy Consuegra. In the Gold Medal rematch with Canada, he came in the 8th inning as a defensive sub in left, while Gómez moved to first to replace Kevin Luciano as Puerto Rico took the Gold. [4]

He was on Puerto Rico's announced roster for the 2020 Americas Olympic Qualifier before the event was delayed due to the COVID-19 outbreak. [5]
