Biographical Information[edit]

Butch McBroom was 48-17 as head coach of Union University (1972-1973) then was 756–686–1 at the University of Texas at Arlington from 1974-1999. He coached John Lackey, Dave Owen and Steve Foster at Arlington. His number 30 was the first one to be retired by Texas-Arlington's baseball program. He then moved into an administrative role with UTA, serving as the department's Director of Development until 2004.

McBroom was previously a cancer survivor who had his leg amputated due to the disease in 1983.
