Biographical Information[edit]
Not to be confused with Hall of Famer Buck Ewing, Negro Leaguer William Monroe "Buck" Ewing was also a catcher. At the major league level, he played in the Negro National League for the Chicago American Giants and Columbus Buckeyes in 1920 and 1921, when he was still a teenager, then almost a decade later was the regular catcher for the Homestead Grays of the American Negro League in 1929. He also appeared for other black teams, including for Homestead when they were an independent team in 1930.
