Biographical Information[edit]

Brian Ward is a veteran minor league catcher who made his professional debut with the Aberdeen IronBirds of the New York-Penn League in 2009. He had been signed as an undrafted free agent by the Baltimore Orioles out of Lewis-Clark State College earlier that year.

Ward spent from 2009 to 2014 in the Orioles organization, reaching AAA for the first time with the Norfolk Tides in 2013. Not much of a hitter - he hit .237 over those six seasons - he still played regularly for the Frederick Keys of the Carolina League in 2010 and 2011, before settling in as a back-up catcher the following seasons. His career high for homers is 7, in his second year with Frederick.

On April 9, 2015, he was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers, along with P Ryan Webb and a competitive balance round draft pick in the 2015 amateur draft in return for P Ben Rowen and C Chris O'Brien.
