Biographical Information[edit]

Brian Reith was drafted by the New York Yankees in the 6th round of the 1996 Amateur Draft. He played in the Yankees minor league system until they traded him to the Cincinnati Reds in 2000. Reith made his major league debut with the Reds on May 16, 2001. After spending all of 2002 in the minors, Reith pitched for the Reds in both 2003 & 2004. For his major league career, Reith had a record of 4-12 with a 5.92 ERA while appearing in 73 games, mostly in relief. Reith joined the Pittsburgh Pirates organization in 2005 and pitched for their AAA team. From 2007 to 2009, he played independent ball — first with the Somerset Patriots, and then with the Camden Riversharks and Joliet Jackhammers.

In 2015 the Tampa Bay Rays hired Reith to coach their minor league pitchers.

Reith was scheduled to be the pitching coach of the Montgomery Biscuits in 2020 before the season was cancelled due to COVID-19. Under his leadership, the 2023 Durham Bulls pitching staff finished 3rd in the International League in ERA (4.56) and 2nd in fewest walks per game (3.9).
