Biographical Information[edit]

Starting pitcher Brett Lee began his professional career in 2012.

He was originally drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 40th round of the 2009 amateur draft, but opted not to sign. He was then taken by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 33rd round of the 2010 amateur draft, but again did not ink a contract. He did sign after being taken by the Minnesota Twins in the 10th round of the 2011 amateur draft. His signing bonus was $150,000.

In his first pro season, spent with the Elizabethton Twins, Lee went 4-0 with a 2.68 ERA in 43 2/3 innings, striking out 48 batters. The next year, he was 8-4 with a 2.95 ERA in 23 games (19 starts) for the Cedar Rapids Kernels and in 2014, he was 10-5 with a 2.45 ERA in 21 games (19 starts) for the Fort Myers Miracle. He was a Florida State League Mid-Season All-Star that year. In 2015, he pitched for the Fort Myers and the Chattanooga Lookouts, going 7-7 with a 3.16 ERA between them. He pitched briefly for the Leones del Caracas over the winter. In 2016, he began in the Twins system, but was released. Signed by the Milwaukee Brewers, the 25-year-old had a 7.57 ERA in 24 relief appearances overall. He was released by Milwaukee in July. With the independent Les Capitales de Quebec in 2017, he was 4-3 with a 3.05 ERA in 21 games (11 starts).
