Brent Lavallee
Brent Lavallee
Biographical Information[edit]
Brent Lavallee is from British Columbia, Canada and chose to travel 2,500 miles to attend college at Louisiana State University in Shreveport. He ended up staying Shreveport for the next dozen years. Lavallee earned a degree in general studies in 2009 and a masters degree in Human Kinesiology in 2012.
While in graduate school, Lavallee served as a graduate assistant coach in 2011-2012. He moved up to an assistant coach position for the 2013-2016 seasons before taking the helm for the 2017-2019 seasons. Lavallee was a big proponent of using data to improve his players' performance and it apparently helped. Lavallee had a lot of success at Shreveport and was named the Red River Athletic Conference coach of the year in 2017 and 2019. He went 126-56 as the skipper of the Pilots baseball program and 396-147 with five conference titles, seven conference tournament titles, and two appearances in the NAIA World Series in his nine seasons on the program’s staff. In addition to coaching at Shreveport, Lavallee was the head coach of the Texas Marshals, a summer collegiate team in the Texas Collegiate League.
The Toronto Blue Jays hired Lavallee to manage the Vancouver Canadians in 2020 before COVID-19 forced cancellation of the minor league season. He then managed the FCL Blue Jays in 2021 and the Vancouver Canadians in 2022-2024.
