Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Brent Keys played in the Florida/Miami Marlins minor league system from 2009 to 2014 and in the independent leagues in 2015. He was taken in the 17th round of the 2009 amateur draft, one pick after pitcher Steve Ames.

The fleet-footed ballplayer stole 13, 11 and 11 bases his first three seasons, respectively, before having a breakout campaign in 2012 for the Greensboro Grasshoppers when he hit .335/.394/.449 with 18 stolen bases, 34 walks (to only 30 strikeouts) and 124 hits in 95 games. He followed that with a .341/.415/.390 season for the Jupiter Hammerheads and Jacksonville Suns in 2013, stealing 14 bases and walking 51 times (to 29 strikeouts).

He began 2014 with Jacksonville and returned to that club in 2015, also playing in the Gulf Coast League. In 2015, he played for the Sioux City Explorers, batting .348/.427/.391 in 34 games.
