Brayan Salaya has pitched in the minors and for the Venezuelan national team.
He was signed by Milwaukee Brewers scout Edgar Suarez. [1] He was 2-6 with a 4.60 ERA for the 2017 DSL Brewers. He was 10th in the Dominican Summer League in losses. In 2018, he had a 3-3, 3.93 record for the AZL Brewers. He fell to 2-4, 7.26 for the AZL Brewers Gold though he struck out 52 in 48 1/3 IP. He allowed five runs in 2 innings for the 2020-2021 Tiburones de La Guaira, going 0-1.
Salaya had a 1.97 ERA in three games for Venezuela in the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games. He led the tourney in IP (2/3 ahead of Wilmer Ríos and Yoennis Yera) and tied Jonathan Carbó for 3rd in strikeouts (8). [2] In the 2023 Pan American Games, he pitched three shutout innings (2 H, 1 BB, 4 K) against Chile; Jose Martinez took over. [3]
