Biographical Information[edit]

Catcher Brant Whiting played college ball at Stanford University from 2011-2014 and earned a bachelor's degree in management science and engineering. The Los Angeles Dodgers drafted him in the 30th round of the 2014 amateur draft and he played in their minor league system through the 2017 season. In his four years, Whiting appeared in 130 games and had a BA of .256, an OBP of .397, and a slugging percentage of .331. After his release by the Dodgers, Whiting spent 2018 with two independent league teams, the Lincoln Saltdogs and the Evansville Otters. He planned to return to Evansville in 2019, but the San Francisco Giants came a-calling.

The Giants hired Whiting as a bullpen catcher and advanced scouting assistant. In 2022, he served as both a bullpen catcher and as an assistant coach and in 2023 was listed solely as an assistant coach.
