Biographical information[edit]

Brandon Taylor played four seasons in the minor leagues.

Taylor hit .356 with 20 homers as a junior, winning Mountain West Conference Player of the Year honors. The Chicago Cubs took him in the 17th round of the 2005 amateur draft. He hit .262/.314/.455 that year for the Boise Hawks, manning third base. He split 2006 between the Peoria Chiefs (.213/.257/.330 in 53 G) and the AZL Cubs (0-1, Sv, 2.57 in 5 G as a pitcher).

Brandon was used solely as a pitcher in 2007 with Boise (1-0, 9.92, 26 H in 16 1/3 IP) and the AZL Cubs (1-0, 2.61 in 5 G). Let go by Chicago, he returned to being a position player with the independent league St. George Roadrunners (.409/.466/.827, 14 HR, 46 R, 46 RBI in 31 G). His dominant turn with St. George got him another look in Organized Baseball as the Los Angeles Dodgers signed him. Sent to the Great Lakes Loons, Taylor produced at a .221/.255/.362 rate in 53 games.

Taylor then became an assistant coach at his alma mater, Brigham Young. He signed with Germany's Heidenheim Heideköpfe for 2010. He was 4 for 9 in his short stay in the Bundesliga. He really helped Heidenheim in the 2010 European Cup, going 14 for 24 with three homers, two doubles, six runs and 10 RBI in five games to help Heidenheim make September's Final Four. He lost MVP honors in the Cup's Brno phase to Jakub Hajtmar of the host club, but led in average (.004 over Boris Marche), led in runs (2 ahead of Chris Beck), led in RBI (two over Mark-Jan Moorman), led in homers (one ahead of 7 others) and led in total bases (one over Beck). Following the Cup, Matt Pali replaced him on Heidenheim's roster.
