Biographical Information[edit]

Brandon Lodge is the stepson of Bobby Grich.

Lodge was 1-1 with a 2.72 ERA as a sophomore at Tesoro High School, then 3-5 with a 2.02 ERA as a junior. As a senior, he was the starting quarterback in football while going 3-3 with 2 saves and a 2.81 ERA in baseball; he hit .349. The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim chose him in the 46th round of the 2007 amateur draft but he did not sign.

Brandon was redshirted as a college freshman at UCLA then did not play in 2009. He allowed 11 hits and three runs in 5 1/3 IP in 2010. UCLA went to the 2010 College World Series. Teammates included three other sons of major leaguers: Niko Gallego, Dean Espy and Beau Amaral. He was again drafted by the Angels in the 2011 amateur draft and made his pro debut with the AZL Angels on June 20th. He went 0-1, 5.48 in 20 games, all as a reliever. In 2012, he split his time between the Orem Owlz of the Pioneer League and the Cedar Rapids Kernels of the Midwest League. Combined, his record was 1-0, 4.10 in 15 games, all in relief again. In 26 1/3 innings, he allowed 30 hits and 11 walks while striking out 19. He was released after the season, ending his playing career.
