Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Bobby Doran played in the minor leagues from 2010 to 2015.

He threw the first no-hitter in his high school's history and led them to a #3 national ranking in 2007. He was 4-0 with two saves as a freshman in junior college then had a 10-3, 2.58 record as a sophomore. He was originally drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 36th round of the 2009 amateur draft, but did not sign. Transferring to Texas Tech, he was 5-4 with a 4.35 ERA and 81 K in 89 IP as a junior. He was then taken by the Houston Astros in the 4th round of the 2010 amateur draft, between Cory Vaughn and Chris Bisson. The scout was Jim Stevenson.

He made his pro debut with the Tri-City Valley Cats, going 4-5 with a 4.67 ERA and walking only 9 in 71 1/3 IP; in an odd statistical note, he nearly had more wild pitches (7) than walks. He sputtered with the 2011 Lancaster JetHawks (1-3. 9.04 ERA, 2.01 WHIP) and missed time with injury. In 2012, he was 14-6 with a 4.00 ERA in 27 starts for the JetHawks (8-4, 3.57) and Corpus Christi Hooks (6-2, 4.83). He tied Mike Foltynewicz for the most wins by an Astros farmhand and was 7th in strikeouts (115). He tied for 9th in all of minor league baseball in victories.

In 2013, he went 11-2 with a 3.51 ERA in 31 games (21 starts) between the Hooks (8-2, 2 Sv, 3.26) and Oklahoma City RedHawks (3-0, 4.06). He tied Brady Rogers and Asher Wojciechowski for third in the Houston system in wins. He began 2014 with Oklahoma City, but was traded to the Chicago White Sox on July 10 for a player to be named later. He was assigned to their Triple A club, the Charlotte Knights. Overall, he was 7-6 with a 5.43 ERA in 30 games (18 starts ) that year. He was released and signed with the independent Kansas City T-Bones in 2015, going 8-6 with a 4.43 ERA in 20 starts. The Toronto Blue Jays signed him following the season, but he was let go before the 2016 campaign began.

Overall, Doran was 45-28 with a 4.81 ERA in 145 games (114 starts).
