Biographical Information[edit]
Bob Milano won 682 games in NCAA Division I.
Milano played at the University of California in 1960-1961. He was head coach at Burlingame High School from 1966 to 1973, was an assistant coach at the University of California from 1974-1977 and then was head coach from 1978-1999. In that time, he led the Golden Bears to a 688-644-4 record and three appearances in the College World Series. California finished third in the 1980 College World Series. He set the school career record for wins by 1994.
Milano was an assistant coach for Team USA in the 1985 Intercontinental Cup and 1988 Olympics and managed Team USA in the 1997 Intercontinental Cup.
California retired his number 7 in 2003.
Among the players Milano helped develop were Jeff Kent, Darren Lewis and Xavier Nady.
He was inducted into the American Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2009-2010.
