Biographical Information[edit]

Bob Malloy appeared five years in the major leagues as a pitcher, mostly with the Cincinnati Reds. He had most of his appearances for the 1946 Cincinnati Reds, where, as a 28-year-old reliever he was one of the youngsters - the average age of the pitching staff was 31.5.

He was at the University of Pittsburgh during 1937-42, and has the lowest ERA of any major leaguer from Pitt with more than 100 major league innings as of 2006.

Pitching for the Indianapolis Indians in 1948, he led the league in both wins and winning percentage, going 21-7. The team went 100-54.
